Pineapple Amigurumi Air Plant Holder FREE Crochet Pattern

So, I am still very obsessed with my new air plant collection! I have probably up to 30 some plants right now, but it's not taking over at all because I make these air plant holders and they just either sit on my window still, or I hang them on my window (check out my previous post).

I have been wanting to make a pineapple amigurumi for the longest time, and there is no better way than to combine it with an air plant display since air plants are part of the pineapple family! And with some air plant types like t. brachycaulous and t. tectorem, with them sitting on top of something yellow just makes them a perfect cute little pineapple!

Pattern Notes

This is a miniature pineapple amigurumi air plant holder measures approximately 3” by 2.5” (7.6 cm x 6.3 cm). This miniature pineapple air plant holder display is made in rounds. It is ideal to hold up your small air plants like (t.brachycaulous, t.tectorem or similar). The air plant rests on top of an indented groove. Bigger air plants may need to rest on a wall/window. Rnd 1: MR 7 (7)

Rnd 2: Inc across all sts (14)

Rnd 3: [Sc, inc] repeat across all sts (21)

Note: picture above is just showing the rounds. Stop with sts 21 if you want the measurement that I had put in the pattern. Otherwise, if you need a bigger pineapple for your air plant, you can increase accordingly. Also, I was going to make this for my tectorem, but I decided to change my mind as you will see below)

Rnd 4: [Sc in next 3 sts, ch 1] across (28) (you can mark your ch spaces to make it easier for the next rnd - pink marker also marks the last ch space)

Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sts, ch 1, sk ch sp] (28).

Rnd 6: [Sc in next 3 sts, inc] repeat across all sts (35)

Rnd 7: Sc across all sts. (35)

Rnd 8-16: Repeat rnd 7 (35)

Place eyes approximately between rounds 7 and 8 (picture above, I forgot about the eyes so I actually stuffed it before placing the eyes which made it a little difficult)

Rnd 17: [Sc in next 3 sts, invdec] repeat across all sts (28)

Rnd 18: [Sc in next 2 sts, invdec] repeat across all sts (21)

Rnd 19: [Sc, invdec] repeat across all sts (14) - start stuffing and shaping the pineapple. Make sure you create that dip at the top so the air plant can sit in it.

Rnd 20: Invdec across all sts (7) F/O and leave long tail for weaving in the final sts. With a sewing needle, pull your needle and thread through the middle of the bottom to the middle of the top of the pineapple and pull it through down again before securing it so you can make the top dimple for your plant to sit in. Tie a knot at the bottom of the pineapple once you’re happy with how indented the dimple is.
